First off, I hope everyone had a marvelous Christmas, and was able to spend precious time with friends and family. Who's excited for sparkly NYE outfits?? Me! I am digging pretty deep today, but this is my story. Growing up l was never the skinniest, nor the prettiest. Everyday I felt insecure, turning to food to cope with my lack of confidence. I ate, and ate, and ate, which was my own fault, and I can't blame anyone but myself. I can vividly remember countless people calling me fat. When I reached middle school things got worse as I only 5 ft 7 and on the doorsteps of 200 pounds. This world is hard enough on a young girl. Unrealistic body images, and women with perfect skin being added to every billboard, magazine and television show dulls a girls confidence. No one will ever be able to achieve these so-called 'perfect body' types. It's the little imperfections that people can relate to. Society has taught young girls that being 5 ft 10 and 115 pounds is the definition beautiful. From experience, flipping through a magazine and seeing only beautiful women with no imperfections can make you feel insecure. When I was in the 7th grade I decided I needed to change my ways. The summer going into 8th grade I lost 20 pounds, and over the past 3 years, I've grown 3 and 1/2 inches. I, now, see myself as being at a healthy weight, but in the modeling world, I would be classified as being a plus sized model. People hear the words 'plus sized' and immediately put a negative connotation on it. I know I am not the skinniest, and this year, I want to push myself to get fit and toned. A man or woman's size shouldn't matter in the fashion industry. Girls are being pushed to be unrealistically skinny. Fashion should be fashion no matter the size. The fashion world should teach young adults to be confident in their own skin, whether that's in a size 2 or 20.

Merry (early) Christmas! After a long, stressful week of finals, it is finally Christmas break. THANK HEAVENS! I hate finals week, and I think every student everywhere can agree with me. Now, I can finally enjoy the holiday season. Anyone else think it is so freaky that it is almost Christmas/2015... where did the time go!? Anyways, in this post I am wearing my beloved floppy hat, of course, and my furry friend haha. I am also wearing this cute plaid skirt from Gap. This is a great outfit if for the holidays, if you're a little more edgy and not into sparkles. I am taking suggestions for my next Youtube post, so if you have any, you can comment below or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org

It's the most wonderful time of the year... to dress up! Putting on a cute dress is just one of the many reasons why I love the holiday season. My good friend, also my photographer, and I went to an old house that is about to get knocked down to take these pics. I hope y'all like them!! This dress is 100% perfect to wear to any Christmas party. I actually wore it to my own party last weekend! I got this Burberry coat a few years ago, and never knew what to wear it with. It is so warm and comfy, and the velvet makes it look extra posh.

Hey pretty people!! I hope you've check out my Youtube, if not you totally should. I am super excited to start posting more videos! I am going to upload makeup and hair tutorials, so be on the look out. This week, I went to the hair salon, and tried to mix things up a little. I wanted the baylage look. (These pictures are from before I got it done.) It didn't turn out as expected! I wasn't used to it being that dark, and it freaked me out. So, I am going back tomorrow to return to my blondness... Anyways, in this outfit I am wearing, the classic, Seven For All Mankind jeans. I am obsessed with them (you've probably noticed). I also got this cute sweater while Black Friday shopping. Guess where I got it?..(wait for it).. Old Navy! Super cute! The entire store was 50% off. If you bought any fabulous things while Black Friday shopping, tell me in the comments! I would love to know- I'm a sucker when it comes to sales (...and shopping).

Welcome to my closet! My name is Emma Engilman. The goal of my blog is to encourage self confidence and stray away from societies definition of "beauty." I refuse to retouch my appearance in Photoshop, so enjoy my flaws because they make me-- me!
